LPW Carpenter Additive presenting at Clean Sky 2 Workshop

Our Applications Project Manager, Graham Robertson, is presenting at the Clean Sky 2 workshop on Additive Manufacturing in Aviation in Aachen, Germany. His presentation on “Industrialisation of AM in Aviation” will take place on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT.

PHILADELPHIA – October 24, 2018 – Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) today announced it has acquired LPW Technology Ltd. (LPW), a leader in the development and supply of advanced metal powders and powder lifecycle management solutions to the Additive Manufacturing industry, for approximately $81 million. LPW is based in Widnes, Cheshire, United Kingdom with additional processing operations near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. LPW employs approximately 80 people.

Thene, Carpenter’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The acquisition combines LPW’s metal powder lifecycle management technology and processes with our technical expertise in producing highly engineered metal powders and additively manufactured components.”

Lifecycle management technology is becoming increasingly important to understanding how materials behave before, during, and after production in the powder-bed fusion process.  Understanding powder behavior is critical as AM becomes more widely adopted and implemented across various industries.

Greg Kline Represents LPW USA at Fall AMC meetingThe Fall 2018 Additive Manufacturing Consortium meeting will take place in Huntersville, North Carolina this year on both October 24th and 25th. The AMC meeting, operated by EWI (Columbus, OH), is a combination of industry, government, academic, and non-profit research organizations with ambitions of advancing metal AM technology. It is without question that LPW Technology will be attending this meeting both days.

We are delighted to have LPW’s Eastern US/Canada Regional Sales Manager, Greg Kline, attend and connect with other AM practitioners at this quarter’s meeting. Greg claims that “attending this meeting in North Carolina asserts LPW’s commitment in understanding the technical challenges within the AM industry, as well as our commitment to connecting with new and existing customers.”

The AMC General Meeting is comprised of a full day of organized activities and presentations on AM research, industry advancement, and technical discussions.
