LPW Technology Showcases AM Metal Powder Solutions at TCT Asia

LPW Technology Ltd will be sharing its unique approach to additive manufacturing (AM) from the perspective of the powder at TCT Asia 2017, Stand N5 G58.

LPW will be exhibiting with its network of highly-experienced Asia-Pacific associates.  “Representatives of Shanghai Dream Arising of Shanghai, China, Aichi Sangyo Co Ltd of Japan, AM Solutions Inc. of South Korea, and XsecPro of Singapore, will all be available to demonstrate how their local expertise, combined with LPW’s wealth of experience in the management of the powder lifecycle, can support manufacturers’ metal AM processes in Asia,” says Dermot Desmond, LPW’s Asia-Pacific Sales Manager.

Dermot and Gang Jiang of Shanghai Dream Arising will be delivering a brief, informative presentation on ‘How to monitor metal powder condition in Additive Manufacturing’ at 16.20 on Thursday 9th March at the TCT Fundamentals & Introducing stand, K90.

“AM technology in Asia is developing rapidly, and the Asian market is forecast to account for $316 Million in metal powders by 2021,” adds Dermot.  “Consistent materials and reliable processing intelligence are crucial to the viable mass industry adoption of AM.  We’re inviting visitors to the show to come to see us and discuss how LPW, our teams of applications engineers and R&D scientists, and our local partners, can offer manufacturers in Asia solutions to the challenges of AM in demanding applications including the aerospace, tooling and medical sectors.”

Visitors to TCT Asia will be able to meet local members of LPW’s networks at stand N5 G58, 8 – 10 March at Shanghai’s SNIEC.


Metal AM Company Ranks in Top National Export League

LPW Technology Ltd is celebrating its debut in the Sunday Times Lloyds SME Export Track 100.  The league table ranks the UK’s small and medium-sized (SME) companies with the fastest-growing international sales, and LPW has entered at No 29, making it the top-performing organisation in the North West of England.

In a rapidly developing global AM industry, LPW has been proactive in seeking out new markets.  Dr Phil Carroll, LPW’s founder and CEO, comments, “We understand that to achieve the challenging growth rate we have set ourselves, we have to both innovate, and look to the global market place.  We recognised early that there is a world-wide demand for the premium quality, traceable metal powders we supply.  To capitalise on the opportunity to supply critical industries such as medical, aerospace and automotive, we achieved the required quality accreditations, including AS 9100 & AS 9120 for aerospace and ISO 13485 for medical.

“As we enter our tenth year, we’re continuing to scale up our operations,” Dr Carroll continues.  “We are constructing a purpose-built £20 million facility in Widnes, and we expect to recruit up to 120 highly-skilled positions by mid-2019.

“Our highly-trained teams put customer service at the heart of everything we do, and we direct our research and development expertise into anticipating the needs of the metal AM industry and designing forward-looking solutions that exceed current requirements,” says Dr Carroll.  “We have developed a unique AM powder lifecycle management system which strictly controls risk for manufacturers, adding confidence, reliability and traceability in metal powder production and repeated AM builds.”

In 2015, exports accounted for almost 75% of LPW’s sales.  It has established a thriving US subsidiary to meet the growing demand from the North and South American AM markets, and has a German sales office and a global network of resellers in China, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Singapore and Turkey, with plans to recruit more.  Key to this international growth is LPW’s comprehensive training and support program for its network.

In 2016 LPW was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade and also entered the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 for the first time.  It can add this latest achievement to its recent Ruban d’Honneur for Import/Export at the European Business Awards.


Metal AM Company Wins Import/Export Accolade in Europe’s Largest Business Competition

LPW Technology Ltd, the market leader in the development and supply of the highest quality metal powders and software solutions for the Additive Manufacturing (AM) industry, has been named as one of just ten prestigious Ruban d’Honneur recipients for The Import/Export Award in the 2016/17 European Business Awards, Europe’s largest business competition.

“This is a great accolade for the LPW team,” says Dr Phil Carroll, Founder and CEO of LPW.  “We’ve worked hard to establish our reputation for premium quality metal powders and seamless customer service, and this in turn has supported us to develop our dedicated global sales teams, and to establish a committed network of resellers world-wide who share our passion, vision and ambition.  This focus resulted in almost 75% of our total sales being exported in 2015, and we’ve created 54 new positions over the last two years, with plans for many more.”

Former Prime Minister of Belgium and current award judge Yves Leterme commented, “The European Business Awards is a very good stimulus for companies to always try to improve their results…  it’s a way of rewarding them for their great efforts.”

LPW was selected from among the 33,000 businesses that engaged in the competition by a panel of highly-respected independent judges because it demonstrated core values of innovation, ethics and success.  The company will now undergo an in depth face-to-face interview with the panel, and will find out if it is an overall category winner at the Gala Final in May.

LPW Chairs Advisory Board of National Manufacturing Hub for Advanced Powder Processes

Dr Phil Carroll, the founder of LPW Technology Ltd, will have a key role on the Industrial Advisory Board of a £20 million government-backed initiative.  MAPP, the EPSRC Future Manufacturing Hub in Manufacture using Advanced Powder Processes, has been created to support UK businesses to exploit the potential of powder based manufacturing routes including metal AM technologies.

“It’s an accolade not only for the company but also for our highly-qualified team, that LPW’s innovation and expertise in the field of metal powders has been recognised with the opportunity to contribute to this project,” comments Dr Carroll.

As a respected industry entrepreneur and leader, Dr Carroll, was approached to Chair the Industrial Advisory Board of MAPP, which is led by the University of Sheffield and funded by The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).  One of eight research hubs exploring and improving new manufacturing techniques, MAPP will focus on supporting the UK’s manufacturing base to capitalise on the opportunities powder processes, including AM, have to offer, translating advanced technologies into practical solutions for industries such as aerospace, energy and biomedical.

Dr Carroll delivered a presentation on LPW’s vision at MAPP’s official launch event at Sheffield University at the end of January, 2017.  “LPW’s commitment to the research and development of AM solutions from the perspective of the metal powder directly complements MAPP’s vision to deliver new powder-based manufacturing processes that will provide low-energy, low cost and low waste manufacturing routes and products for industry,” says Dr Carroll.  “We’re excited to be contributing to such a forward-looking project that has the potential to transform our manufacturing base.”

MAPP will work with academic, commercial and innovation partners to drive the research needed to address the challenges limiting the development and uptake of powder-based processes.
