LPW Technology invests in Malvern systems to measure performance-defining properties of AM powders

Particle characterization systems from Malvern Instruments are helping LPW Technology to provide certified powders for additive manufacturing (AM) applications in the aerospace, automotive and biomedical sectors. Particle size and shape are performance-defining parameters for AM powders. Malvern’s Mastersizer 3000 laser diffraction particle size analyzer delivers rapid, routine particle size measurement for all the powders that LPW supplies.


LPW Technology move to new premises

LPW Technology has moved to a new 20,000 sq. ft. (1858 m²) office, production, and manufacturing facility. The move represents a significant step forward for LPW, and reflects the requirement for larger premises due to the continued growth of the business.


Toolcraft uses optimised metal powders from LPW Technology for precision AM applications

Toolcraft, (Georgensgmund, Germany), a specialist manufacturer of high-end precision metal  parts and components, is turning to LPW Technology to source optimised, competitively priced powders for exacting additive manufacturing (AM) applications. Toolcraft manufactures micro-components of the highest dimensional accuracy to meet the demands of a wide range of industries including, biomedical, defence and motor sport. LPW Technology establishes new US subsidiary

LPW Technology, a global leader in the development and supply of optimised metal powders for additive manufacturing (AM), has formally established a US subsidiary, LPW Technology Inc. Opening in June 2014, the LPW Technology Inc. office will be situated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and will provide local support and sales to a growing number of customers in the US.

ManSYS – building a platform for 3D printing

European Commission (EC) supported project ‘Manufacturing decision and supply chain management system for additive manufacturing’ (ManSYS) , is an initiative of 12 partners aiming to contribute to the acceptance of 3D printing as a trustworthy and economically viable manufacturing technology. Here’s how the project, with LPW’s involvement in the validation of recycling powder, aims to develop an online platform for the design and procurement of 3D printed parts and products.


LPW invests in FT4 powder rheometer to optimise metal powders for additive manufacture

LPW Technology is using the FT4 Powder Rheometer® from Freeman Technology to research new powders and exert control over product performance. LPW develops and supplies customised metal powders for high performance, functional component manufacture, supplying, amongst others, the automotive, aerospace and biomedical industries. LPW’s continual investment in comprehensive powder testing equipment provides the information needed to engineer powder behaviour for specific AM processes and applications and to ensure a consistent quality product.


LPW Technology European commission framework programme 7 success

In collaboration with colleagues across Europe, LPW Technology was recently successful in a number of bids for European Commission Framework Programme 7 funding. The objectives of these projects are to develop metal powders for Additive Manufacturing and Cold Spray technologies through optimised material properties, material life-cycle management, and reducing the environmental impact of these novel technologies.
